Real estate research can be very addictive. It’s frightening, really. Once you decide that you ought to be exploring a house purchase, you view the world around you very differently. I’m not sure it’s healthy. Buildings everywhere are ‘prospects.’ Neighborhood research, the ins and out of taxes and financing … and the most engrossing—what Julie refers to as Real Estate Porn. I’ve spent an unmentionable quantity of hours searching through listings over the last year, pouring through candidate spots, and imagining myself stretching out, renewed and invigorated, in environs painted with floor plans and enticing images.

Perhaps my favorite porn supplier has been the Brownstoner blog, which covers Brooklyn, NY. They recently announced that blogging would transition from an (obsessed) hobby to a full-time (hopefully paying) gig.
